About

Dr. Kramer is an Associate Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology, Pharmacology, & Therapeutics at the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Principal Investigator at ICORD (International Collaboration on Repair Discoveries).

His basic research is focused on understanding the neurobiology of pain – efforts that involve the delivery of controlled noxious stimulation and the acquisition of electroencephalography, anatomical neuroimaging, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy in healthy people. The translation of this knowledge is primarily focused on advancing treatment options for patients with neuropathic pain. Dr. Kramer has also taken a lead role in evaluating equity, diversity, and inclusion in pain research, including a recent review of Canadian studies focused on physical pain in Indigenous peoples. Outside of academia, Dr. Kramer is an avid sailor and enjoys prawning with his 2 best mates.
